Exploring Faith is an open conversation exploring cultural relevant topics about the Church, the bible and the Christian life.

What Topics Do We Discuss?

  1. Apologetics – Exploring objections to the Christian faith, especially questions that black Christians might wrestle with.
  2. Church Related Subjects – This covers areas of the Christian life that perhaps are not explored much in teaching in Churches as well as issues within the church itself.
  3. Culture – A discussion of relevant cultural issues, especially pertaining to the Afro-Caribbean community in Scotland (and UK) from a Christian perspective.

Finding a Healthy Church – 6th April 2024

One of the most topical conversations happening right now is on ‘toxic churches’ and the damage this causes to may people. But what is is that makes a church toxic or unhealthy? And more importantly, what does a healthy church look like? We start off the conversation thinking about why this matter at all, why should we care about church and what does Jesus say about his church. We finish by thinking through what makes a church healthy and some warning signs to look out for in unhealthy churches.

Developing a Christian Worldview – 23rd March 2024

What kinds of things shape our worldview? We explore the importance of having a coherent worldview and discuss ways in which it is possible to hold to Christian faith but adopt worldviews which are inconsistent with the message of the gospel. We conclude by giving a helpful framework of how the Christian worldview not only answers but provides a foundation and basis for life's biggest questions.

Having a Confident Faith – 9th March 2024

Why is it important to be confident about what be believe as Christians. What stops us from being assured and confident that what we believe about the Christian faith is both true and good? How can we grow in confidence even in an increasingly secular society?
